Today, the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) is proud to announce the 13 fellows joining their Black Independent Music Accelerator (BIMA) program for its second year running! With the ultimate goal of fostering a more equitable industry, BIMA is a fellowship initiative designed to amplify Black voices in the independent music community through educational and networking opportunities.
We are proud sponsors of the BIMA program, and look forward to providing resources to help these companies excel. Join us in congratulating these black-owned independent music companies!
About the Black Independent Music Accelerator (BIMA) program
Kicking off in early 2021, A2IM’s Black Independent Music Accelerator (BIMA) is a fellowship created with the intention of fostering a more socially and economically equitable music industry by amplifying small, Black-owned music businesses in the independent space.
BIMA aims to serve as a vehicle for Black-owned music companies to successfully grow their businesses, expand their network of music industry contacts, and gain access to key educational resources created by some of the most forward thinking voices in the independent sector.
In 2021, our inaugural cohort of fellows were an invaluable part of the A2IM community, including labels like Jazz is Dead, glbl wrmng, and Never Normal Records (full list of 2021 fellows here). We are excited to announce that the program will continue into 2022, with 13 new fellows:
